At least nine personnel of Assam Rifles were injured after unidentified men lobbed grenades inside their well-guarded transit camp in Imphal on Tuesday evening, sources said, in the second such attack on security forces in Manipur. The injured were evacuated to a hospital from the transit camps meant for Assam Rifles troopers, who remain on the move. Manipur’s director general of police (DGP) LM Khaute and top Assam Rifles officials visited the blast site. Officials did not allow the media to enter the camp near the State Police Commando Complex in Imphal. On Monday evening, two Assam Rifles personnel were injured when two hand grenades exploded at the Polo Ground, where the Assam Rifles sponsored equestrian championship is being held.
