Nigerian police rescued 48 people who were kidnapped by gunmen on a highway in north Nigeria’s Kaduna state on Wednesday. “The operatives succeeded in rescuing 48 people to safety. They were profiled and subsequently escorted to their destination safely,” he said, adding one female trader is yet to be accounted for. Meanwhile, effort is being intensified to ensure the safe return of the missing trader, while additional manpower will be mobilized to beef up security in the area, he added. Armed attacks have been a primary security threat in Nigeria’s northern and central regions, resulting in deaths and kidnappings.
