Nigeria: clean energy funder lauded for pushing green investments

A specialised financial guarantor in Nigeria has been lauded for its pursuit of clean energy investment “mobilisation”. The World Economic Forum’s (WEF) Mobilising Investments for Clean Energy in Nigeria community paper says as part of InfraCredit’s clean energy transition strategy, it has developed a Clean Energy Funding Programme (CEFP). It is sponsored and backed by the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority, GuarantCo, KfW, Africa Finance Corporation, African Development Bank and InfraCo Africa. “In February 2019, InfraCredit guaranteed NSP’s NGN8.5 billion, 15-year corporate infrastructure green bond, which was the longest local currency green debt issue in sub-Saharan Africa at the time.
