The occasion was the launch of the Stakeholder consultation of the South East Development Commission (SEDC) for its regional development plan called Southeast Vision 2050 (SEV2050). The Commission is one of the four regional development commissions established by President Tinubu under the Ministry of Regional Development. Preceding these, the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has been in existence since 2000, and the North-East Development Commission (NEDC) since 2017. Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, coincidentally the Chair of the South-East Governors Forum, was the only one of the five governors who did not attend in person. For long, the NDDC has defined the business model of the regional development commissions.
