Foreign institutional investors have poured a net $8.73 billion (around Rs 56,000 crore) into domestic equities while local investors have pumped in over Rs 24,126.87 crore. An increase in protectionist tendencies in the global economy has trimmed export growth amid indications that remittances from the Gulf have started to wane. "The current all-time high Nifty valuations can be justified only if we presume double-digit growth into perpetuity. The Nifty has become one of the most expensive indices in the world. However, many contend that the intensity of the correction will not be severe because funds are still pouring into the markets.
