KUALA LUMPUR: Hong Kong's Joey Chan denied Nicol David a fourth consecutive appearance in the women's squash final at the World Games in Wroclaw, Poland on Thursday. Joint-third seed Chan won the semi-final match 7-11, 12-10, 5-11, 11-4, 11-5 for her first victory in eight meetings against eight-time world champion Nicol. The second seeded Nicol had been bidding to add to her three previous World Games gold medals in Duisburg (2005), Kaohsiung (2009) and Cali (2013). Instead, World No 6 Nicol will now play in the bronze medal playoff against either top seed Camille Serme of France or Britain's Fiona Moverley on Friday. Following the World Games, Nicol will head to Manchester for the World Doubles Championships starting on Aug 1.
