BARCELONA - Neymar has joined Paris Saint-Germain on a five-year deal, the French club said Thursday, after he paid his 222-million-euro (US$263-million) release clause to leave Barcelona. The Brazilian winger's move shatters the world transfer record, which previously stood at the 105 million euros Manchester United paid Juventus for Paul Pogba. "It is with immense joy and pride that we welcome Neymar Jr to Paris Saint-Germain," said club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi in statement. "I am extremely happy to join Paris Saint-Germain," Neymar said in the same statement. On Instagram, Neymar bid farewell to Barcelona and Lionel Messi in particular, whom he labelled "the best athlete I've ever seen in my life."
