Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich (R) is suggesting House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) failed to prepare for the January 6 Capitol riot. Capitol Police spokesperson John Stolnis previously told the outlet the Capitol Police is overseen by the Capitol Police Board. The website of the Capitol Police states, “The Capitol Police Board consists of the Sergeant at Arms of the U.S. House of Representatives, the Sergeant at Arms and Doorkeeper of the U.S. Senate, and the Architect of the Capitol. The Chief of the United States Capitol Police serves in an ex-officio non-voting capacity. The Chairmanship alternates annually between the House and Senate Sergeants at Arms.”As USA Today notes, Pelosi was not a chair or administrator for any of the committees overseeing the agency at the time of the riot.
