Voters approved the ordinance; fight the lawsuit. It’s the right thing to do, but if the amount gets too high, it may be time to settle. Lawyers are getting paid out of the general fund, but not all taxpayers are OK with it. The council should have repealed the ordinance, as Harker Heights did. The city may be justified in fighting the suit, but taxpayer money is at stake.
