A new poll shows California voters favor Newsom over Harris for president. Twenty-eight percent of the California Democrats who were surveyed selected the governor as their top choice in the 2028 presidential election. About 45% of the state’s registered voters said they were enthusiastic about Newsom running, compared with 36% for Harris. Almost two-third of voters in that survey, and half of Democrats, said Harris should not run for president again. The poll found that 48% of California registered voters say they approve of the job Newsom is doing, with the same share disapproving of his performance.
