Twenty-five-year-old trainee nurse and activist Joe Davies wants to be the Labour Party's candidate for Port Hills. Trainee nurse and activist Joe Davies has put his name forward to replace Ruth Dyson as the Labour Party's candidate for Port Hills. Nominations for the candidacy closed more than a week ago and Davies, 25, said on Sunday he was one of those nominations. The seat is about to be vacated by MP Ruth Dyson, who said in March she would not seek re-election, after 27 years in Parliament. Davies, who is a member of the Port Hills Labour electorate committee, is nearing the end of his nursing education.
