News: Newly formed Southwest Ethiopia State establishes 70-members regional council

Photo: Regional Communication BureauAddis Abeba – Newly formed Southwest Ethiopia People’s Regional State established 70 members regional council representing 13 existing nations and nationalities of the region, according to regional communication bureau. The establishments the new regional state government was not a threat to state building at national level but was formed as a success of organized self-determination. In August last year, the provisional council of the regional State has announced that the new regional state will have four capital cities of equal status, becoming the first regional state to have multiple capital cities of equal status. Subsequently, the Southern Nations, Nationalities and People’s (SNNP) regional state Council handed over power to the new State on 01 November 2021.
