ST. ANTHONY, N.L.—Motorists in northwestern Newfoundland are being warned to watch for a caribou herd wandering near the airport in St. Anthony. The province’s Land Resources Department issued a statement Friday saying the herd had been spotted on roads between the St. Anthony Airport and the communities of Eddies Cove and Main Brook. The department says says a significant portion of the St. Anthony caribou herd is currently in these areas. As a result, officials are asking drivers to slow down and avoid driving at dusk and dawn when caribou are more active. They also say it’s a good idea to have passengers watch for the herd.
