Jim Mansfield pulled up a shark that was more than two metres in length on his line just off New Melbourne. Officials confirmed it was a porbeagle shark — a smaller relative of the Great White. — A fisherman out jigging for cod on Newfoundland’s Trinity Bay hauled in a much bigger catch than expected. Porbeagles are not uncommon in Newfoundland waters, with and another caught by a fisherman off Petty Harbour last year. Still, Mansfield says the shark was just as aggressive as its famous, feared cousin.
