Newcastle United should know more about the feasibility of expanding St James' Park in the 'next few months'. That is according to CEO Darren Eales after the club commissioned a study last year to see what is possible on the complex city centre site. The hierarchy would ideally like to stay at St James' and are gathering additional feedback from supporters on their wishes for the stadium after launching a lengthy fan survey last month as part of the overall study. "It just speaks for the volume of passion and interest there is for Newcastle United from our supporters. Newcastle City Council, who would only be involved as the planning authority at a later date., would like the black-and-whites to stay put and have vowed to support the club 'as much as we can'.
