Newcastle United owners PIF are still committed to investing in a new training ground in the medium to long-term after their purchase of the Magpies in 2021. But the training ground fell into a state of disrepair under Mike Ashley with the club crest falling off the wall at one stage. When asked about whether a training ground move was still on the cards, CEO Darren Eales told Chronicle Live: "We have been transparent since the takeover. What I would credit the ownership with, is over £10million investment now (at Benton) to help the club short-term. Of course, when you are investing in the training ground that is capital expenditure outside the PSR regime.
