Last weekend's 4-1 defeat at title-chasing Arsenal means the Magpies are now 15 points behind the Champions League places. A top four finish isn't out of the question yet, but any hopes of bringing European nights back to St. James' Park hang on possible participation in the Europa League or Europa Conference League. Should the FA Cup winners have already qualified for Europe through their league position, sixth would claim the second spot in the Europa League. However, should the Premier League receive the extra spot for the Champions League, sixth and seventh would qualify. Newcastle's Premier League clash with Wolves on Saturday has much resting on it with Gary O'Neil's men above Newcastle by one point.
