Harvard Health warns that every extra daily serving of unprocessed red meat increases the risk of dying prematurely by 13 per cent. They have determined that there is low certainty that eating red or processed meat causes cancer, diabetes or heart disease. There is some evidence that red meat consumption might be harmful, but it's not strong enough to justify telling people to change their dietary habits. The American Institute for Cancer Research advises no more than 18 ounces of cooked red meat a week. A study in 2016 concluded that butter is not linked to a higher risk of heart disease and type 2 diabetes.
