New tool shows how long it would take for a first-time buyer to obtain a new home in their locality

How long would it take an adult who typically falls into the “first-time buyers” age bracket to obtain a new home in their locality based on current building rates? On average, they would have to wait 1,865 years at the current rate of construction to get a home in their locality. It considers newly built homes and does not take the second-hand market into account. Their calculations are based on dividing the number of 18 to 44-year-olds who are not homeowners in each area by the number of homes built in that area over the past year. The research also reveals that there were no new homes for first-time buyers built in 21 Dublin postcodes last year, nor in 57 other postcodes in the State.
