Garbage bins at tourist places, especially in south Mumbai, will not overflow anymore as the BMC is planning to install smart bins to collect garbage. These will bear an electronic chip through which the garbage lifting truck can check whether the bin is full or not. "We want to put bins that look good and being used across the world widely at tourist destinations." The garbage lifting trucks will have a GPS system to track such bins which have been filled with garbage and need to be cleaned immediately. Last week, senior civic officials attended a presentation on using smart bins in the city and its benefits.
