The lowland forest at Brooklyn Recreation Reserve will be extended under the new Motueka Ward Reserve Management Plan, which was adopted last week by the Tasman District Council. The panel recommended all 20 key changes proposed in the draft plan be retained although some were modified. Motueka Ward councillor David Ogilvie removed himself from the chamber while the matter was discussed, citing a conflict of interest. Ogilvie raised concern about some parks in the Motueka Ward that had not been declared and classified as reserves under the Reserves Act. The adoption of the Motueka Ward Reserve Management Plan ends a process that started in summer 2016-17 with an initial call for ideas to include in the draft document.
