This year, for the first time, up to 50 places are being ring-fenced in medicine across Queen’s University and Ulster University, for students from the Republic. The Irish Government is funding the places and also subsidising students who agree to do their internship with the HSE. Those who do not sign a such contract will pay the standard Northern Ireland annual fee of £4,710, which works out at about €5,500. There are no fees for some healthcare courses in Northern Ireland.
