Selby-Rickit, who is fluent in Te Reo, is close to finishing his teaching qualifications and has landed a job at Invercargill's Maori school, Te Wharekura o Arowhenua. "I'm really enjoying it down here, the school has really welcomed me and the staff have been really friendly. Thomas previously played alongside Selby-Rickit in Manawatu, with Thomas playing in Canterbury in recent seasons where he was a fringe provincial player. Selby-Rickit and Thomas' signings mean the Stags' four 2017 locking spots have been filled with Mike McKee and Jack Capil already signed.
