Photo: SUPPLIED / LDRThe Wellington City Council will draft new procedures for disposing of old physical assets after revelations that three separate checks failed to detect confidential papers left inside an old mayoral desk sold at a tip shop. It formed part of a to‑do list for implementing a review's recommendations, the council said in papers to Wednesday's Audit and Risk Committee. Wellington builder Raymond Morgan bought the rimu desk for $200 at the Southern Landfill tip shop last year, part of a furniture collection that once belonged to the Town Hall. It also suggested the council create an asset‑disposal policy with clear requirements to verify that items are free of council information.
