Minister for Transport Eamon Ryan said the priority next year will be to invest in public transport, walking and cycling routes because “gridlock would cost us a fortune if we just went down the road space policy”. I expect to be able to use some of that infrastructure fund if we need to, if we can’t afford it. “When we get to projects, because it’s a very long process we have, we need to make sure we don’t stop-start. “And I expect the infrastructure fund being one of the ways, if economic conditions don’t allow us to provide from the capital budget, to make sure we do build it, spend it.
