This concept is the title of a new book, Broken Tikanga, written by new Manawatū author Raewyn Anderson. Like Laura, Anderson had a Māori mother and a non-Māori father. ANDRE CHUMKO/STUFF Broken Tikanga is set in Tolaga Bay, where teenager Laura has returned to her guying grandmother's ancestral home. In her personal life, Anderson is happily married to husband Brigham and they're the parents of six children aged from 13 to 27. Now, Broken Tikanga has been picked up by US and Australian publishers and is also available locally at Palmerston North's Bruce McKenzie Books and online through Amazon.
