England’s batsmen, already stinging from an innings defeat in Mount Maunganui, endured a torrid 18 overs late on the second day of the second Test match at Seddon Park. They quickly lost the wickets of Dominic Sibley and Joe Denly and but for the generosity of the fieldsmen might have seen Rory Burns depart as well. There were some heart-in-mouth moments as Burns and Joe Root saw out the last eight overs. The England captain would have been relieved to reach stumps unscathed. He took ten balls over his first run but a couple of alarms apart looked composed.
