New Zealand police say man who died backed mosque killings

Price said the man was taken along the ground by officers to a point of safety before crews unsuccessfully provided first aid. Dubovskiy’s father Vlad Dubovskiy told the New Zealand Herald that he and his son moved to New Zealand from Russia in 1997. The Herald reported that Dubovskiy had several previous convictions, including two following a 1999 incident in which he burgled a Russian couple he knew. When the couple returned home, Dubovskiy, who was wearing a balaclava, pointed a replica German pistol at them, before the couple escaped, the Herald reported. The Herald reported Dubovskiy admitted in a police statement at the time that he was the intruder but said he couldn’t recall all the details of the incident because he was drunk.
