The Jets and Maye now have until July 15 to try to agree upon a long-term contract instead of Maye playing under the one-year tag. Depending upon where the franchise tag for safeties lands, Maye will end up near Las Vegas’ Lamarcus Joyner in current average salary for safeties at $10.5 million. Simmons signed the tender and played under it, being paid $11.441 million for his services in 2020.
