Three years ago, Mr. Schneiderman sued Mr. Trump and Trump University, his for-profit educational company, saying that students had been defrauded out of thousands of dollars with false promises about what they would learn. Hope Hicks, a spokeswoman for Mr. Trump, called the bribery allegation a “totally ridiculous.”
