USB-IF, the industry group responsible for developing and promoting USB standards, has announced the USB Type-C Authentication Program [PDF link]. In case you were unaware, the USB ports on your devices pose a very real security risk. USB-C Authentication would make it much harder for a bad actor to use those tricks to successfully attack your devices. It could all come down to how selective companies are about implementing USB Type-C Authentication.
