Holenstein emphasised the longstanding and burgeoning relations between the countries and promised the European nation’s support to Bangladesh’s humanitarian efforts. Before that, he was head of the Multilateral Division of Switzerland’s Humanitarian Aid. Switzerland was one of the first countries to recognise Bangladesh after its independence. This year, Switzerland and Bangladesh celebrate the 45th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral relations.
