South Canterbury Rugby Football Union chief executive Craig Calder has been named a White Ribbon ambassador and hopes his own experiences will help him to help others. "I lived in fear for all of my childhood life with domestic violence in the house," Calder told The Timaru Herald. "You never knew what you were coming home to because alcoholism was involved and often alcohol led to violence." "If we can save one life or save one police call out by helping people, I've done part of my role." In 2018, Calder was part of the launch of Stand Up, a South Canterbury Rugby Football Union community support project against domestic violence.
