In Sangen-Jaya sits Tokyo Saryo, the tea house that’s bringing Tokyo dwellers from all parts of the city to taste its hand-dripped green tea and bask in its minimally-designed tranquil space. The shop was conceived when its two owners, both designers, saw how well coffee imported to Japan was doing, while domestic teas lagged behind. These problems prevent consumers from getting good green tea and I wanted to change that.” With Tokyo Saryo, they’re certainly taking a strong first step. Visitors to Tokyo Saryo can taste a wide variety of single origin teas from all over Japan, including harumoegi, koushun, koishizuku, yabukita yame, okumidori, kouran, and yoino shichiyousei.
