New LPA seen to cross Luzon by weekendA brewing storm east of Mindanao threatens to make landfall over Luzon by weekend, the country’s weather bureau said. DOST PAGASA / MB.COM.PHPAGASA-Weather Division’s Marine Meteorological Services Section Chief Rene Paciente said it could develop into a tropical depression by Wednesday or Thursday (October 12–13) and make landfall over Southern or Northern Luzon by Saturday or Sunday. But once the ridge of HPA recedes, it is seen to move west-northwest, possibly making landfall over southern or northern Luzon by weekend. In the meantime, PAGASA said the LPA’s outer cloud bands would bring cloudy skies with moderate to occasional heavy rains and thunderstorms over Biliran, Eastern Samar, Leyte, Northern Samar, Samar, Southern Leyte, Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte and Surigao del Sur. PAGASA advised residents in these areas to be on alert for possible floods and landslides.
