Police’s counter-terrorism unit has been granted five days to interrogate New JMB’s alleged “spiritual leader” Maulana Abul Kashem in a case filed over the busting of the militant group’s den at Kallyanpur. Former principal of Okharabari Madrasa of Dinajpur and ameer of a faction of banned outfit Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), Maulana Kashem now heads a new faction which is affiliated with the Islamic State group.
