If it weren’t enough that New Haven can boast America’s oldest college, it is also the birthplace of the Frisbee! Michael AlpinerNot to be overshadowed by pizza and other delicacies (which will be served up soon), Yale University is central to life in New Haven. However, it’s the divine architecture of New Haven that leaves one’s mouth agape (save for the pizza, which is on its way). The Yale University Art Gallery was architect Louis Kahn’s first significant commission, and stands across the street from The Yale Center for British Art, ironically, his last commission. Perhaps college towns, (if you can call New Haven whose population is 130,000, a “town”) cannot avoid this old/young dichotomy.
