The Edmonton Police Service is forming a counter-terrorism and intelligence bureau that will be led by newly appointed Deputy Chief Greg Preston. "We have a busy portfolio here in the city," Knecht said. Knecht said the formation of the new bureau would mean centralization of resources rather than hiring new officers. Edmonton police are part of that team, but Knecht said INSET can't keep up with current demand. Knecht expects the new Edmonton police team to work closely with INSET, often on a "minute by minute basis."
