New Delhi-Dhaka relations at their best, a model for other countries, says Indian Minister Jaitley


The remarks by Jaitley, who is now in Dhaka, came in a statement released after the neighbouring countries signed $4.5 billion loan deal on Wednesday. India announced its third line of the credit in April, when Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was visiting the country. "We have extended three Lines of Credit worth $8 billion to Bangladesh in recent years. This is the largest quantum of credit India has extended to any other country by far and comes with a highly concessional rate of interest," the Indian High Commission statement quoted Jaitley. India continues to attach the highest importance to its relations with Bangladesh, Jaitley said adding, "A strong, stable and prosperous Bangladesh in India's interest…"According to the Indian finance minister, connectivity is crucial to success of India-Bangladesh development partnership as well as for regional economic cooperation.
