The high-profile Cairo-based arbitral organisation has finalised, approved and published the final version of its new rules which will become effective this month. The Cairo Regional Centre for International Commercial Arbitration (CRCICA) has published new arbitration rules. Based on the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) Arbitration Rules of 2021, CRCICA’s new rules mark the culmination of a long consultative process, and will supplant the current rules which were last formally updated in March 2011. Last year Nigeria enacted its Arbitration and Mediation Act 2023, supplanting its Arbitration and Conciliation Act which dates back to 1998, in a bid to increase the country’s attractiveness as an arbitration seat in the sub-Saharan Africa region.
