New Black Panther Party says members will carry guns to upcoming Republican rally in Ohio

On Saturday, gun-wielding NBPP members paraded through the streets of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to protest against the killing of Alton Sterling. The NBPP, formed in Dallas, Texas, in 1989, is not an official successor to the Black Panther Party of the 1960s, but embraces the same ideology. “We will exercise our second amendment rights [to bear arms] because there are other groups that are threatening to do harm to us,” said Hashim Nzinga, chairman of the New Black Panther Party, yesterday. Some police officials have accused Mr Obama of fuelling division by being insufficiently supportive of them.
