New ‘Code of Conduct’ to govern PM Narendra Modi’s ministers

NEW DELHI: The Modi government is set to revise the existing 'code of conduct' for its ministers. At present, the code of conduct for ministers at the Centre and states includes declaration of assets and liabilities. Ministers also can't be part of any office of profit or associate with the conduct and management of any business, among others. Some of the changes are on their conduct on social media, rules to be followed while making a recommendation, travel sanctions and restrictions on using official bungalow for party work and attending private events. The draft proposal borrows clauses from the UK's ministerial code framed by the David Cameron government in October 2015.The home ministry, which handles the code of conduct for parliamentarians, has sought response from various departments including the ethics committee of Parliament.
