The fact that the business is still going at all despite these things being wrong is evidence that something more fundamental is right. That fundamental thing is; the business has a right to exist. The rule is that if the business has a right to exist, then everything else can potentially be fixed. Now not many people have the stomach or the skills for what the turnaround guy does, but the idea of "right to exist" can be applied much more widely. There are two points at which the right to exist is particularly important, namely the beginning and end of a business's life.
