With the success of HBO’s Game of Thrones by George R. Martin, Netflix looks to develop this to be their first fantasy franchise. Recently, Lauren Schmidt Hissrich has been named as showrunner and executive producer of The Witcher series for Netflix. The title has garner fans who love the novels, who know it as a Polish language series which was produced called Hexer dating back two decades ago, comic books, and finally fans of the video game series. With the numerous amount of content, video game films and television series will be looking to replace the comic book film and series as rivals. Time will tell if the video game genre will surpass the comic book genre with their adaptations into film and television.
