According to The Hollywood Reporter, Netflix made the decision to alter the controversial scene ahead of the young adult drama’s third season. 13 Reasons Why, and the scene in question, faced criticism for its depiction of suicide upon its release in 2017. “The real links between mental health and suicide are not discussed at all in the series.
