The issue of women's remuneration in sport is getting attention because the World Cup-winning netballers will pick up no prize money. The Silver Ferns are the second-best-paid sportswomen in the country, behind the Black Ferns sevens. Leberman said the lack of prize money was symptomatic of a lack of investment in women's sport by broadcasters, governments and sponsors. In the US, the World Cup-winning women's football team is fighting for pay equity, and has now been backed by sponsor Proctor & Gamble.
