Nepal's former PM arrested over alleged role in protest crackdown

The detentions came a day after Prime Minister Balendra Shah and his cabinetwere sworn in following the first elections since the 2025 uprising thattoppled 74-year-old Oli's government. "They were arrested this morning and the process will move forward accordingto the law," Kathmandu Valley police spokesman Om Adhikari told AFP. Oli was arrested by police in the capital in the early hours of Saturday. "They have been arrested for investigation on the protests of September 8 and9," Kathmandu district police spokesman Pawan Kumar Bhattarai said.
