Nelson fire: The cordon on Teapot Valley Rd on the south-east edge of the Nelson fire as residents were evacuated on Friday morning. Dorje Strang was among the few remaining Teapot Valley residents, on the south-east edge of the massive fire, who were evacuated at around 11am on Friday. RNZ Dozens of people have been evacuated from Teapot Valley southwest of Nelson after a flare-up in the fire late on Thursday afternoon. Another evacuated Teapot Valley resident Graham Cole told RNZ that he had 10 minutes to evacuate on Friday morning. At the cordon on Teapot Valley Rd on Friday morning, a group of evacuated residents waited while contractors, police and Air Force personnel staffed the perimeter.
