ALDEN WILLIAMS/STUFF Christchurch is enjoying temperatures nearly 10 degrees Celsius above the July average. Clark said Christchurch's warm temperatures were exacerbated because there had been no strong westerlies in the past few weeks. Temperatures were expected to head back towards the July average from Thursday, with a high of 12C forecast in Christchurch. Meteorologist Angus Hines said Christchurch would be settled at the start of next week, but become unsettled as the week went on, with average to below average rainfall. The week after was looking similar, although temperatures were expected to drop back towards July averages.
