Refusing the provincial government’s offer to pay for medical treatment in the country, former prime minister Nawaz Sharif on Thursday conveyed to his family that “difficult time will pass”, asking them to “have faith”. Nawaz Sharif’s family members including his mother Shamim Begum, daughter Maryam Nawaz, younger brother Shehbaz Sharif and nephew Hamza Shehbaz met the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo at Lahore’s Kot Lakhpat jail to inquire about his health. Nawaz’s family reportedly voiced concerns over the ex-PM’s “gradual weight loss day-by-day” who he is serving a seven-year sentence in Al-Azizia reference. Shehbaz implored his elder brother to get hospitalised for his own good, according to reports which added that Nawaz refused to do so. The ex-PM’s daughter Maryam Nawaz also urged her father to get treatment at a medical facility, to which Nawaz reportedly asked her to stay “strong in this difficult time”.
